Pauline Scott studied Art part time at NCAD and at Dunlaoghaire Art School where she completed Art Teacher Certificate exams. She also has a Diploma in the History of Euopean Painting from Trinity College Dublin.
She developed an interest in landscape painting , initially in oils but later specialised in watercolour painting. She is interested in the delicate yet rich and subtle pigments in watercolour, and its
transparency.
Favourite subjects include in particular the colour and light on the Connemara seashore. Other subjects of interest are villages and woodlands, including colourful vlllages in Tuscany, France and Spain.
Technique involves detailed drawings and colour notes on site, and later development of the subject in delicate transparent layers of watercolour. Watercolour on wet paper has a life of it's own not found in oil painting.
Pauline Scott is a member of and exhibitor with several Art Societies including The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club (past Hon. Secretary), The Dublin Art Society (past Hon. Secretary), and The Water Colour Society of Ireland ( past Hon. Secretary and Past President)
She has also exhibited in many group exhibitions including The RHA ,RUA, Annual Exhibitions at The Mater and St. VIncent's Hospitals and Kilcock Gallery.
Her work is represented in Permanent Collections of The University of Limerick, The Department,of Foreign Affairs, and the Department of Health. Work is also in the collection of Enterprise Ireland, The Office of Public Works and in private collection in Ireland and abroad.
