THE WATER COLOUR SOCIETY OF IRELAND

I’m a retired architect and now a ‘plein air’ watercolour artist living in Crossgar, County Down, halfway between the Mourne Mountains and Strangford Lough, two of my favourite painting locations.
My goal is to see & capture Ireland with fresh eyes.
The thrill of painting a watercolour is like taking a rollercoaster ride through a kaleidoscope of colour and light. Turbulent as it is, all I want is to create a simple sketch. To tell a beautiful lie that I can hang on my wall and delight me every day.
If there’s a ray of sunshine to be had I’ll pack up the Harley with paints & coffee & head for the Mournes.
If there are two rays of sunshine to be had, I’ll pack up the camper-van & head out west. Hmm.. Donegal looks promising this weekend!
