Striking watercolours from a most distinguished, award-winning artist based in Ireland.

Back in Bath this summer, we are delighted to show this wonderful collection of Bath & Venice paintings.

Les’ watercolours have a very recognisable and personal style. He captures iconic scenes with beautiful textural detail, superb subtle tone, and always characteristic charm and quirkiness.

Les’ talent has brought him prizes, medals & many impressive roles!

President of the Ulster Watercolour Society, Past President of the Arts Society of Ulster and an Associate Member of the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts. Les is a regular exhibiter their Annual Exhibitions.

In addition in 2013 Les was awarded an MBE in 2013 for his services to the community.

A Yorkshireman by birth, Les studied at Bradford College of Arts in 1946-9. After National Service in the Royal Air Force 1949-51, he was employed as Designer for Tootal Limited in Manchester. He moved to Northern Ireland as Design Manager at Ulster Print Works in 1964 before becoming Senior Lecturer in Textiles at the University of Ulster, Belfast until 1995.

Les’ was commissioned by the BBC to paint a millennium painting and his work is to be found in collection nationally and internationally.  He has shown at the Mall galleries in London, First Sight gallery in Bath and has his own gallery Carnathan Gallery in Donaghadee, County Down.
