Esther Breslin

Esther Breslin was born in Dublin in 1987. She graduated from the National College of Art and Design in 2011 with a BA Honours in Fine Art - Printmaking. She received both the Printmaker's Gallery Purchase award and a graduate award from Graphic Studio Dublin. Subsequently, she became a practicing member of this studio until 2013, when she relocated to Norway. Today she lives and works in the town of Tynset. She is a member of Norske Grafikere, Norske Billedkunstnere and The Watercolour Society of Ireland.

While painting and photography play contending roles in Breslin's work, she is predominantly a printmaker. Ever fascinated by the process of etching her work is an ongoing exploration of the possibilities of this medium. Simultaneously, she is occupied with the cognitive processes that affect aesthetic selection. Notions of nostalgia, idealisation and awe permeate her work. She engages these themes in interplay with the attributes of the printmaking process.

Collections of her work can be viewed at The Printmaker's GalleryGraphic Studio Gallery and SO Fine Art Editions in Dublin, and Norske Grafikere Gallery in Oslo.
